I don’t get outside at all today. I don’t have or make any particular plans to do so. It’s a holiday. Little is open. Instead, after a bout of relaxation and procrastination, I get back to work on a film project. I’ve been recomposing the music. In a sense, I’ve been continually composing the same piece for forty years or so. This is the latest version. Stepping away from that, I look through some of the footage that I’ve shot, mostly last year, to see what I might use. Several films and clips that I’ve watched recently are changing my mind about what I want to do visually. I’m also getting ideas from what I experience while falling asleep in front of the TV. I listen to some of the spoken word elements that I’ve recorded for it, as well as to the field recordings. Something new is coming together. I just have to look and listen to what I experience, both within and outside of my head, to learn what it is.
