I wander into the doctor's waiting room at 8 AM. He and his receptionist are conferring in his office. The door is open. It's a small space. The office itself has a desk, two chairs, and an examining table, without much equipment. The waiting room has another desk and five more chairs. The doctor, originally from South Africa, is quite good. The receptionist, a native here but near-fluent in English, is excellent. To get some prescriptions renewed, I just drop in. She scans my healthcare card, types some things into her computer, then looks into the doctor's office. He says "OK." She sends the prescriptions on to the pharmacy. She notes that I'm due for some tests and hands me completed paperwork and supplies. In moments, I'm headed back down the street to get the prescriptions filled.
