Putting the baby to bed in her stroller is complex and hazardous. The grandfather, standing, gradually moves her up and out, away from his shoulder. I take the blanket that her head had rested on. The grandfather, supporting her head, tilts her so that she is facing upward. He rotates her so that she is facing in the opposite direction and lowers her. The mother, seated, moves her hands upward and under his. He slides his hands away so that the baby is now in her arms. She rotates, pulls the baby inward toward her then away, and positions her above the stroller, parallel to it. I place the blanket in the stroller, smoothing it against the surface and the sides. The mother lowers the baby into the stroller, moving more slowly as she gets closer. Her arms make contact with the surface. She slides her arms from under the baby. Her right hand slides out, almost imperceptibly, from under the baby's head, until the baby lies on her own in the stroller. She remains asleep. The maneuver is a success. The eaglet has landed.
