White balls of fluff flow across the road in a silent stampede, like tiny tumbleweeds or the final stages of dandelions. I think they're from the flame trees. Months ago, they sprouted brilliant red flowers that burst into color high overhead, then almost immediately dropped off and faded to a disappointed brown. After weeks of just showing branches and dull green leaves, they may be springing to life again. The fluff balls may have blown in, though, from another plant further away. In this strong, straight, hot wind, I find it hard to tell.
