Walking down the hallway at the House of a Hundred Grandmothers, I hear caregivers joking in what I think is Tagalog. In much of it, they are repeating one word in different ways: "Duuuuu-ra... du-RAH... du-du-ra-ra-ra-ra..." They laugh uproariously each time. Later, eating supper with my family, I hear an announcement echoing down the hallway. Between the blurriness of the loudspeakers and the reverberations, all that I can understand are "movie" and "7:30." The announcer is singing about half of what he says and proclaiming the rest with over-the-top enthusiasm. Apparently, from the laughter around me, this too is hilarious.
