The moon, nearly full and almost round, rises quickly past the Heart of the City mall. At first I think it's a streetlight behind the trees. It moves higher in the sky, and I see it as it is, shining from beyond low clouds. Its surface with its signature shadows becomes clear as it slides into the empty band of sky above them. It seems to be wobbling slightly, to the left then to the right and back. This must be an illusion, caused by my tired eyes. The moon goes back behind another higher, denser band of clouds. It isn't going to rain. Those clouds are dust from the desert that hovers here, above our heads, in our lungs, and beneath our feet.
