The giant sea turtle may have died in the rockslide from the nature preserve that changed the textures of the beach. What had been smooth sand, I'm told, is now rubble, sharper and hard to traverse. The dog, finding the body, rolls around, ecstatic, on the turtle's decaying shell. Her human is slightly less thrilled. Even after a cleansing swim at the seaside, she has to give the dog a bath.
