At two different places on my walk toward work, I see hedgehogs waddling down the pedestrian streets. Their feet trot as fast as they can but the tiny steps move them slowly along the road. Each freezes in place when it senses that I'm watching. Perhaps it's trying not to be seen. Taking a better look as they hug the edges of shadows, I wonder if they might be young porcupines instead. I don't get close enough to find out.
